Batya is inspired by the beauty of the Holy Land of Israel, and the flowers and fruits of the land often find their way into her creations. Her Pomegranate Collection draws inspiration from the jewel-red pomegranates, one of the seven species of the Holy Land mentioned in the Bible.
“A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey.”
– Deuteronomy 8:8
Pomegranate trees grow all across Israel, with their noble fruits bearing a crown. Pomegranates are considered by many to symbolize thanks and recognition. Inside the modest fruit are hundreds of ruby-red seeds, which the Jewish people have compared to the commandments given by God.
Her Pomegranate Collection is the perfect way to set your table and bring the spirit of the Holy Land to every meal. You can purchase each item from open-stock to create your collection to suit your family!
Each item in the collection is crafted by hand on Batya’s potter’s wheel in the heart of Jewish Samaria. Each piece is lovingly made through multiple steps: Batya begins by shaping the piece on her potter’s wheel, then fires it for the first time. After that, she decorates and glazes it by hand, before returning it to the kiln for the second firing!
Batya’s Pomegranate Collection Bowls are ideally sized for serving soup, salad, or even enjoying your breakfast cereal!
