Batya’s Olive Collection – Inspired by the Beauty of the Holy Land
Batya draws inspiration from the breathtaking landscape of the Holy Land of Israel, where the flowers and fruits of the land often influence her creations. As you journey through Samaria, you pass endless olive orchards, watching the small fruits ripen under the warm Israeli sun.
Batya first crafted a small olive oil jug for our surprise packages, and its charming design captured our hearts! We were so taken with it that we expanded the collection to bring more of her beautiful handcrafted pieces to your home.
Olive trees are deeply woven into Israel’s heritage, a vital industry and one of the seven species mentioned in the Bible:
“A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey.” – Deuteronomy 8:8
Batya’s Olive Collection is the perfect way to elevate your table, connecting every meal to the spirit of the Holy Land. Each piece is available as open-stock, allowing you to curate a collection that best suits your family’s needs. For a truly unique and meaningful table setting, mix and match with her Pomegranate Collection!
Handcrafted with Love in Samaria
Each item in Batya’s Olive Collection is individually crafted by hand on her potter’s wheel in the heart of Jewish Samaria. With meticulous care, she:
- Shapes each piece on her wheel
- Fires it for the first time
- Hand-paints and glazes every detail
- Returns it to the kiln for a final, perfect finish
Set of Three Small Bowls – A Perfect Addition
This charming set of three small bowls is the ideal complement to your Olive Collection dinnerware. In Israel, these bowls are used to serve dips, relishes, and small side dishes that enhance every meal. They also make the perfect dessert bowls—imagine serving ice cream or fresh fruit in these exquisite, handcrafted vessels!
Batya’s Olive Leaf Netilat Yadayim Cup
Renowned Israeli ceramic artist Batya Erdstein has infused her handmade Netilat Yadayim Cup with an unmistakable Israeli touch, adorning it with a delicate olive leaf pattern.
In Jewish tradition, ritual handwashing (Netilat Yadayim) is performed upon waking, before meals with bread, and after using the facilities. Using a beautifully crafted washing cup adds joy, meaning, and reverence to this sacred ritual.
Batya’s hand-thrown Netilat Cup is designed to feel comfortable in your hands, featuring two graceful handles and a body carefully decorated with olive leaves inspired by the trees surrounding her hilltop studio in Samaria.
A Meaningful Gift & A Touch of the Holy Land
Batya’s Olive Leaf Netilat Yadayim Cup is more than just a functional piece—it’s a work of art and a symbol of tradition. Whether for your own home or as a thoughtful gift, it brings a piece of the Holy Land into daily life.
As each item is handmade, subtle variations make every piece one-of-a-kind, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
