Designed and produced in Israel by the Jerusalem based studio Touchwooddesign, this wooden 3D puzzle assembles into a freestanding red anemone, a flower closely associated with the fields of the country’s southern border communities. The puzzle is cut from smooth, laser etched wooden sheets developed through Touchwooddesign’s computerized design process, allowing each component to fit precisely into layered petals, a branching stem, and textured leaves.
Natural wood tones are paired with deep red accents, and the finished flower stands upright on a solid wooden base intended for long-term display. The red anemone—known in Hebrew as kalaniyah—blooms each winter across southern Israel, including the areas surrounding Kibbutz Be’eri. Over time, it has become a widely recognized emblem of the region and its residents. That connection is made explicit through the inscription printed on the base of the puzzle: “With Love from Be’eri,” anchoring the object to the people it honors and the land from which the symbol comes.
The puzzle arrives unassembled and is designed to be built by hand. Individual petal layers, short and long stem segments, and leaf elements are joined step by step, requiring attention and coordination. An illustrated instruction sheet is included, along with a QR code linking to a clear assembly video. The process results in a stable, sculptural object that reflects Touchwooddesign’s focus on precision, durability, and clear form. Conceived in Jerusalem and dedicated to Israel’s south, the completed anemone stands as a physical reminder of place, presence, and connection.
“The flowers appear on the earth; the time of pruning has come.” (Song of Songs 2:12)
