A honeycomb pattern is pressed into the top of this bar, which gives the first clue to the recipe inside. Lily Rose Honey Soap is made with honey from Ahituv and olive oil from Sde Boker, two Israeli ingredients chosen by Hanna Ben-Shushan after years of studying natural skincare and soap making.

Honey contributes to the character of the bar, and olive oil gives the recipe its foundation. Hanna keeps the formula simple and works with growers and suppliers she knows personally. Each ingredient has an intentional place in the recipe, and each source connects the soap to a different part of Israel.

Hanna’s interest in skincare began at home in Kfar Etzion. She and her husband spent two years reading about oils, waxes, botanicals, and traditional soap making methods. They learned through research and repeated testing, preparing batches in their kitchen and sharing bars with friends. Those friends returned for more, and Hanna continued refining the recipes.

Her son later developed a persistent skin condition. Hanna prepared a soap for him using the knowledge she had already gained and the ingredients she trusted. His skin improved within about a week. Requests from other families followed, and Lily Rose opened in 2019.

The business soon moved from the family kitchen into a dedicated workshop. Hanna hired employees, increased production, and built direct relationships with Israeli farmers and producers. Honey arrived from Ahituv. Olive oil arrived from Sde Boker. 

October 7 placed enormous strain on Lily Rose and on the family behind it. Hanna continued running the workshop while caring for her three children and navigating the uncertainty faced by businesses throughout Israel. Production continued in Kfar Etzion, and the team kept sending Lily Rose products to customers abroad.
