David makes his functional, artistic woven trivets using hand-gathered date fronds that he collects in the Jordan Valley. He gathers the fronds in the autumn. Following the harvest, he treats and drys the fronds, keeping them warm for six months before using them to make his trivets.
This beautiful hand-woven trivet features a natural abstract design with a Star of David at the center point. The Star of David is a recognized symbol for the nation of Israel and even adorns the flag of Israel!
The trivet is sized to be suitable for use with serving dishes, pots, and pans. You can use David’s trivet to protect your table and countertops from damage from hot pots and serving bowls.
Each one is unique, and they bring a touch of Israeli beauty to your home. We even like using them as decor for our walls! David’s delightful woven Star of David trivet makes a lovely gift for a friend or loved one.

Natural Woven Star of David Palm Trivet
David Grushko was born in Paris and chose to make aliyah and build his life in the Jewish homeland. He lives and works in the small Jewish settlement of Ofra, north of Jerusalem in Samaria.
David’s creative journey began in an unexpected way, with the study of electronics! In Israel, he connected with Hertzel Auster, one of Israel’s foremost basket weavers. Hertzel taught David the art of basketry techniques, and David developed his unique approach to the art. He brings the spirit of French aesthetics to the ancient Israeli art of basket weaving, creating beautiful, functional pieces and unique wall art.
David believes that art is a tool to connect the spiritual and material worlds and, in the process, is a way of revealing his soul in each one-of-a-kind piece he creates. He uses various weaving materials, many native to the Holy Land. He works with grapevines and date stems to create baskets that will be treasured for years to come.
A signature element of Davids’s work is that each piece is accompanied by a poem that expresses the inner concept of the work and an expression of his soul.
