cook time:
40 min
Whole branzino, cleaned and scaled 2
Extra virgin olive oil 2 Tbsp
Salt and black pepper to taste
za’atar 4 Tbsp
Lemon, sliced 1
A bunch of fresh herbs (like parsley, dill or cilantro) for stuffing
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). 🌡️
Step 2
Rinse the branzino inside and out with cold water, then pat dry with paper towels. Drizzle each fish with olive oil, both inside and out, then season generously with salt, pepper, and za'atar. 🐟🧂🫒🌿
Step 3
Stuff the cavity of each fish with lemon slices and your choice of fresh herbs. This not only adds a burst of freshness but also helps the fish maintain its shape while cooking. 🍋🌱
Step 4
Arrange the fish on a baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. ⏲️
Step 5
Serve your Za'atar Roasted Branzino straight from the oven, garnished with additional fresh herbs if desired, for a beautiful, wholesome meal that's truly Mediterranean. 🍽️ Enjoy this exquisite dish and remember, every meal is a journey! Bon Appetit or as we say in Israel, Beteavon!
