Mediterranean Salad with Fried Halloumi Cheese
Halloumi cheese is very popular in Israel. One fashionable way of using it is frying the cheese and then adding it to a salad. In fact, fried halloumi salad is a regular option found on the menu of most contemporary Israeli cafes. Here is a relatively simple recipe for you to try and make this tasty dish at home.
Ingredients
For the dressing:
Juice from half a lemon
Small garlic clove, crushed

Dead sea Salt and pepper to taste
Dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon
Israeli Olive oil

For the salad:
Small red onion, thinly sliced in half-moons

Cucumber, chopped

Cherry tomatoes, halved
1 Cup
Olives, pitted
1/2 Cup
Halloumi cheese, cubed
8 ounce
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Olive oil (for frying the cheese)

Instructions
Step 1
Make the dressing: Stir together all the ingredients until well combined.
Step 2
In a large bowl, toss together the onion, cucumber, tomatoes, and olives.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the halloumi over medium heat for about 2 minutes on each side, until golden and slightly soft inside. Remove them from the pan and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
Step 4
Add the halloumi cubes to the salad and toss the salad with the dressing. Mix everything together
